Saskatchewan Provincial Chess Championship

SSCA is hosting Saskatchewan Provincial Chess Championship on April.21, 2024 (Sunday).  

This tournament is open to all chess players who has attended the 2 qualifications we have run in March. The invitation will be sent to the paticipants.  

Date:  April. 21, 2024 (Sunday)
9:30am    Check in / Onsite Registration & Fee payment)
10:30am  Start Round 1  (Round 1&2, Lunch, Round 3-5) 

Location: University of Saskatchewan 
Room 266 (GYM)   /  Williams Building
221 Cumberland Avenue North

Time Control:
G/25+5: Each Player has 25 minutes with 5 seconds increment after each move. 

Sections:
•Number of sections will depend on the number of participants
•Sections will be defined by grades
•5 rounds minimum for each section.

Tournament Details:
•Chess tournament rules apply
•Chess clocks used in upper grades (generally grade 4 / U12 and up)

Registration Fee:
•On-line registration is $20
•Onsite Registration is $25   (Payable at the door)

Saskatoon Regional Qualifier (March 10th, 2024)

SSCA is hosting Saskatoon Regional Chess Qualifier on March 10, 2024 (Sunday).  There will be another 2 regional qualifier tournaments for SK Provincial Chess Championship:

Online: For players living far from Saskatoon/Regina. Date/Info will be announced later.

Saskatchewan Provincial Chess Competition will be hold in April, we require all players (except provincial champions in 2023) must play in one of the qualifiers to get familiar with the process, time control, rules, and etc. 

Meanwhile, according to the requirement from Chess Federation of Canada, any players would like to attend 2024 Canadian Youth Chess Championship (July, 2024 / Laval, QC) need to be qualified before application. So, players gains 2.5 points in each age group (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18) will be qualified for CYCC.   As a benefit for young players, CFC will give free membership to the players of this tournament. 

This tournament is open to all Saskatchewan players from Kindergarten through grade 12, and New Players are welcome to participate. Please feel free to forward this email to your friends who might be interested to join.
